Some common applications of sodium carbonate (or washing soda) include: Sodium carbonate (or washing soda) is used as a cleansing agent for domestic purposes like washing clothes. Sodium carbonate is a component of many dry soap powders. It is used for removing temporary and permanent hardness of water.
Sodium Carbonate, Anhydrous is a water insoluble Sodium source that can easily be converted to other Sodium compounds, such as the oxide by heating (calcination). Carbonate compounds also give off carbon dioxide when treated with dilute acids.
Drinking small amounts of baking soda is not usually dangerous. In adults, this can provide short-term relief from indigestion. However, drinking large amounts of baking soda is dangerous, and it is not suitable for long-term use, use during pregnancy, or use in children.
As we know, anhydrous sodium carbonate has no water molecules. It's just Na2CO3. - When the hydrated sodium carbonate is strongly heated, it decomposes into water and anhydrous sodium carbonate.
