Product Description: 

Eriochrome® Black T is used as an indicator for complexometric titrations. It functions as an acid-base indicator. Eriochrome® Black T forms complex with Ca2+ and Mg2+, but it binds more strongly to Mg2+ ions.

Product Application: 

Eriochrome® Black T is used as an indicator for complexometric titrations. ... Eriochrome Black T is soluble in water and alcohol, but insoluble in common organic solvents. It is mainly used as an indicator in ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) method to determine hardness of water.

Product Procedure: 

Eriochrome Black T is a complexometric indicator that is used in complexometric titrations, e.g. in the water hardness determination process. It is an azo dye.

Product Note: 

Dissolve 1.0 g of Eriochrome Black T in 80 mL 95% ethanol. Make up to 100 mL with 95% ethanol. Schools will need to check if the chemicals to be used are approved for use in their jurisdiction.
