Areas of Application of TRO Calibration Kit

  • Cooling water systems
  • Ballast water treatment systems
  • Desalination plants
  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Drinking water and utility monitoring
  • Marine and offshore water systems
Product Procedure:
What is Total Residual Oxidant (TRO)?
Total Residual Oxidant (TRO) is a critical measurement in ballast water treatment systems that use chlorination or electrochlorination. TRO represents the total amount of chlorine and chlorine compounds remaining in treated ballast water after the disinfection process.

Accurate TRO monitoring is essential for:

Ensuring effective ballast water disinfection
Preventing over-chlorination that could harm marine ecosystems
Maintaining BWM Convention compliance
Optimizing neutralization agent (sodium thiosulfate) dosing
Product Note:

Technical Highlights

  • Measurement Range: Instrument-dependent
  • Method Type: Colorimetric (DPD)
  • Compatibility: TRO analyzers, portable chlorine meters, and laboratory photometers
  • Reagent Form: Liquid (Buffer & Indicator), Powder (DPD Sachets)

Principle Method of RXSOL TRO Kit

The kit uses the internationally recognized N,N-Diethyl-p-phenylenediamine colorimetric method.
When DPD powder is added to a water sample containing total chlorine or oxidants, a pink/red coloration develops. The intensity of the color is proportional to the oxidant concentration and is measured visually or using a photometer to determine TRO/total chlorine levels.
