Product Description

CYCLOHEXYL AMINE – RXSOL

Chemical Name: Cyclohexylamine (Cyclohexanamine) CAS Number: 108-91-8 Molecular Formula: C₆H₁₃N Molecular Weight: 99.17 g/mol Product Category: Industrial Amines / Boiler Water Treatment Chemicals / Chemical Intermediates

Product Description

RXSOL Cyclohexyl Amine is a highly reactive, strongly alkaline organic amine widely used in boiler water treatment, steam condensate corrosion control, rubber chemical manufacturing and industrial chemical synthesis.

Cyclohexylamine is a clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic strong amine odour. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents.

In boiler treatment applications, Cyclohexylamine functions as a volatile neutralizing amine, helping neutralize carbonic acid formed in steam condensate systems. By maintaining suitable condensate pH, it helps minimize acid-related corrosion in steam distribution pipelines, condensate return lines and associated equipment.

Cyclohexylamine is also an important chemical intermediate used in manufacturing rubber accelerators, corrosion inhibitors and specialty industrial chemicals.

Dosage

Cyclohexylamine in Boiler Condensate Treatment

During steam generation, dissolved carbon dioxide may travel with the steam and form carbonic acid when the steam condenses.

This acid can lower condensate pH and contribute to corrosion.

Cyclohexylamine helps neutralize the acidity:

{C_6H_{11}NH_2 + H_2CO_3 --- C_6H_{11}NH_3+ + HCO_3-}

By maintaining appropriate condensate pH, Cyclohexylamine helps reduce acid-related corrosion and supports the long-term reliability of compatible steam systems.

Dosage: The required dosage depends on condensate pH, carbon dioxide loading, steam system design and operating conditions. Dosage must be established through a suitable boiler treatment programme. Direct dosing of concentrated Cyclohexylamine without proper engineering controls is not recommended.

Notes

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is Cyclohexylamine mainly used for?

Cyclohexylamine is mainly used in chemical manufacturing, rubber-processing chemical production and selected boiler condensate treatment formulations.

Q. Why is Cyclohexylamine used in steam boiler systems?

It helps neutralize carbonic acid in steam condensate and maintain suitable pH, reducing acid-related corrosion in condensate pipelines.

Q. Is Cyclohexylamine soluble in water?

Yes. Cyclohexylamine is miscible with water.

Q. Is Cyclohexylamine a corrosion inhibitor?

It can act as a neutralizing amine in condensate corrosion-control programmes and as a component or intermediate in certain corrosion inhibitor formulations.

Q. Can Cyclohexylamine be used directly in any boiler?

No. Its suitability depends on the boiler operating conditions, steam end use, treatment programme and applicable regulatory requirements.

Cyclohexylamine is a clear colorless to yellow liquid with an odor of ammonia. Flash point 90°F. Irritates the eyes and respiratory system and Skin contact.

Why aniline is a weak base than cyclohexylamine?

NH2 group and six carbon ring are present in both Aniline and cyclohexylamine. But due to presence of aromatic ring in Aniline electron loosing effect becomes poor, This is the reason for difference in basicity lies in a manner that aniline is a weak base then cyclohexylamine. In aniline unshared ellectron pair of electron on nitrogen atom is present in conjucation with the benzene ring and becomes less available for protonation because of resonance.
